Guitarist / Singer / Songwriter

I was born in June 1975 and was raised in Birmingham on country & Irish music. I took  up the guitar in 1996 and I remember the exact reason for doing so. I was in an old Irish bar in Birmingham city centre (Pat o' Connell's) and there were two Irish men on stage (Aiden O'Brien & Pat Breslin). I had never seen anything like it before, it was magical. They played their songs, the people danced and the whole atmosphere was electrifying. I knew then that I wanted to create music and entertain people. I made friends with Pat & Aiden and they were the kindest people I could ever wish to meet. They helped and supported me in my early stages and they are without doubt the reason I am where I am today.  Having been quite heavily influenced by the big stars in country music in my teens, and later, people like Eva Cassidy, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon Leonard Cohen etc....,  I have now created a style of my own.

Since 1996 I have discovered many different music venues and had the privilege of seeing some of the most exciting artists on the scene. Having spent the last few years going to folk fests and other music gatherings, I have met some really interesting and talented people, one of which, the brains behind, and the back bone of  the NEW GREY WHISTLE TEST, Gary Haywood. He came up with the idea of filming good quality unsigned artists / bands, and using the internet to broadcast it. When he asked me if I would help him get it off the ground, Obviously I was more than happy to oblige, and couldn't wait to do the first show.I have started writing my own songs now, and I plan to create my own album just as soon as I can. I'm not doing any gigs at the moment, but when my CD is done, I will be putting it out there. For now I'm just doing the odd 'open mic night' as I find this can be quite thrilling (and good practice).
